Securing the answers voters get about your election

When a voter asks a chatbot how to register, where to vote, when polls close, or what security safeguards are in place, the answer should come from your office. Right now it comes from wherever the AI decided to look, with varying degrees of reliability. Sometimes that means a deadline from two cycles ago, a polling place that moved, or a rule from the county next door.
That is a security problem, not just a communications one. The Exchange’s own guidance on public communication makes the point: the goal of many attacks on election infrastructure is to erode confidence in the process. A chatbot that sends a voter to the wrong place, or tells them a deadline has passed when it hasn’t, damages trust without nefarious intent. Your website now has two audiences: voters, and the AI systems that repeat what they find. If your official information is hard to find, out of date, or split between an old .com and a new .gov, the tool may turn to a lookalike domain or a page someone else controls instead.
